It is a legal requirement for all employers and the self-employed to carry out health and safety risk assessments and to report incidents and ill health at work. Many employers will have additional regulations to comply with if their work involves the use of hazardous substances or the handling of heavy loads, and many businesses will require employees to be trained as first aiders.
